Healthy Aging in a Digital World Big Idea
My passion for this Big Idea
“I have always been interested in older people who age well, and what I can do as a nurse to promote healthy aging. When I first started my career, I thought the best way to alleviate the suffering of others was to work one on one with a single person and their family. As I’ve matured, I’ve realized the power of systems and how to influence them. My upbringing empowered me to advocate for change, even if it meant standing out from the crowd.
“Healthy Aging in a Digital World will pursue systematic change to tackle the challenges and opportunities of our aging population.”
Healthy Aging in a Digital World will pursue systematic change to tackle the challenges and opportunities of our aging population. It will influence systems related to the living environment, education, research and policy. Specifically, we will develop the technology and supportive structures to position older adults and their families for healthy aging, supporting their values and preferences for managing their own health at home.
By bringing together a group of individuals from a variety of disciplines at UC Davis, and with the support of generous donors, we will affect communities everywhere.”
