Veterinary Medical Center Big Idea
My passion for this Big Idea
“I am passionate about this Big Idea because with it we are transforming the future of veterinary medicine and advancing the health of animals, people and the environment. Our focus is on providing excellent patient care and compassionate services to our animal patients and their owners. The Veterinary Medical Center will harness the power of the entire campus to bring new technologies synergistically together in a dynamic environment to help us translate cutting-edge science into new treatments for our animal patients. As the global leader in veterinary medicine, with over 30 specialties, we train the specialists that set the standard in delivery of veterinary medical care, and translate today’s discoveries into tomorrow’s treatments.
“The Veterinary Medical Center will harness the power of the entire campus to bring new technologies synergistically together in a dynamic environment to help us translate cutting-edge science into new treatments for our animal patients. "
I see amazing stories and miraculous patient outcomes happen in our hospital every week. This Big Idea will allow the evolution of our current hospital into a comprehensive and efficient Veterinary Medical Center unlike any in the world; one that combines compassionate health care for animals with innovation, discovery, and education - all within a collaborative and fertile academic environment.
Our vision for the future of veterinary medicine brings a community of scholars, clinicians and veterinary students together in integrated teams. At the heart of our new center will be the patient and client experience. Each element of the center's design will facilitate an integrated, efficient approach to patient care. With immediate access to new technologies, our veterinarians and staff will work in an environment that honors the human-animal bond, applies novel approaches to complex problems affecting both animals and people, and create an atmosphere of discovery that creatively solves complex biomedical and agricultural issues facing our society.
Donor support is absolutely essential and critical at this time. We have programs that would not exist without passionate donors who partner with us and now we need that support more than ever to make the future of veterinary medicine happen at UC Davis.”
